Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

If you are like me you are wondering what is a “softish” throat drop?  I was so intrigued I had to look at the throat drops as soon as they arrived at my door.  I was thinking they would be like a gummy product; it’s not.  The throat drop is somewhat hard but gives some if you squeeze it.

My allergies have been bothering me since spring has sprung.  I have drainage so my throat becomes sore.  I can put one or two of the Pine Bros softish throat drops in my mouth, and I get relief.  You don’t chew them, you just let them dissolve in your mouth.

I only reviewed the cherry flavor, and I like them.  There is no “medicine” taste.  Since the drops do not have artificial sugars, my tween can use them.

Here is a product description from Pine Bros

Ulysses S. Grant was President, the population of America hovered at 39 million, and the telephone was still a pipe dream, when in 1870 J. Herman Pine hung out a confectionery shingle on 8th Street above Walnut in Philadelphia and, along with his brother, sold their first batch of what they called ‘Pine Brothers Glycerine Tablets.’ In an attempt to relieve his own sore throat and those of his family members, Mr. Pine, a former German confectionery maker, determined that by combining the soothing natural qualities of glycerin with the healing properties of gum acacia, he could sooth and mitigate the mild discomfort of a sore throat. Add in some natural flavoring and a sweetener and voila, Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops were born. “I have discovered something,” Pine wrote, “which will give quick throat relief to thousands afflicted as I was.” He added,”Perhaps I won’t make much money out of this. But I can make people happy, and that’s more important than money.” Mr. Pine was being unduly modest, as his “discovery” would become one of the most successful, most delicious and most unique throat lozenges in the world. Nor has the recipe changed appreciably since it was first introduced to the public over 140 years ago.

In 1930 Pine Brothers was sold to the Life Savers Company and continued to flourish. Known for its ‘soft drop consistency,’ Pine Brothers lozenges became a favorite of adults and children alike. The product, which attracted healthiest sales in the eastern and northern states, due to its icy winters, reached its peak popularity in the 1970’s. The company was sold by Life Savers, and then, having been re-sold and acquired a number of times, found itself essentially rudderless and under appreciated; this despite a legion of loyal consumers. Cost cutting changes were made to the original recipes, packaging became stale and marketing non-existent; Pine Brothers began to be made overseas. Sales declined.

Recently, Pine Brothers was acquired by the creator and former owner of Airborne, Victoria Knight-McDowell, for her new company 3 Sisters Home Products™. Much time and effort has been spent locating the original Pine Brothers recipes, redesigning the packaging, and creating an exciting yet classic new look. Pine Brothers is once again being made in America, and was launched nationally in fall 2011. And indeed, old Mr. Pine has succeeded yet again in “making people happy.” God bless him!

HOLSTER clip + go travel pill box

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

My husband has reached a time where he has to take medication for his neck. There are times he has forgotten the medicine at home, and luckily I was able to take it to him. After a few times of him forgetting, he decided to take the pain reliever with him in his laptop bag. He was soon tired of the bottle being in there and having to move it around when he needed something out of his bag.

When the Holster Clip arrived at my house, I immediately thought of my husband. He put the medicine inside it and slid the clip over a pocket inside his laptop bag. No more rattling of a pain reliever bottle or moving the bottle around when he gets inside his bag.

The pill box compartments are fairly small. Most over-the-counter medications will fit inside. I was not able to fit my supplements inside it, but it is perfect for my husband.

TRIPOD store + go travel container

This container would be great for putting your supplements when you have to take them multiple times a day.  You could have a section for morning, afternoon, and evening.  It is also great for a weekend getaway.  I have gone away for the weekend and put my supplements in here so I didn’t have to worry about taking the big bottles with me.

You can also use this to store bobby pins, safety pins, and lip gloss.  The compartments close, the container folds to make a tripod.  You can throw it into your purse without worrying about anything falling out of it.  You don’t have to rearrange things to fit this in your purse.  You don’t even notice it is in there because it is light-weight.

The one thing I have to be careful with is when taking things out of the container.  You can easily take the top off of the side parts without disturbing the middle one.  If you need to get to the middle compartment, you have to take the entire top off.  The container does not always lay flat so it can be a bit tricky.

Overall, I like this container.  My tween likes it because she can carry her lip gloss and other small items in it and put it in her backpack.  It does not take up a lot of room and it does not weigh a lot.

Sabi 2-Compartment Carafe with Drink Cup and Pill Box

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Have you ever had to take medicine in the middle of the night and/or before your feet hit the floor in the morning? If so, the Sabi Carafe with drink cup and pill box is for you! You put the water in the cup, put the pill box in, put pills in the compartment (there’s even 2 compartments), and then place the lid on the pill box.

When I received this product, I remembered a time when I had to take antibiotics in the middle of the night. It would have been wonderful to have this right by my bed. I would forget to put water on my nightstand so I would have to get water each night. This would have made life a lot easier.

I also thought about my grandma. She has a glass of water by her bed nightly with her medicine wrapped in a tissue so she can grab it easily. This drink cup with pill box is easy to open and easy to close.
